  • This mechanism is used to filter particles, turbidity-causing substances, and bacteria contained in raw water efficiently through using physical straining. This mechanism is categorized into gravity flow filer and membrane filter.
  • Characteristic & Merit
  • The gravity flow filter is one of the most general-use type of water purification mechanism. This filters turbid materials contained in raw water by passing them through filter media. This type of filter demands no high initial cost and relatively easier operation so that it is currently widely used. Membrane filter is capable of filtering almost all kinds of the larger particles and bacteria than a pore, and the even smaller viruses. Membrane filter employs filtration film with very tiny and uniform-sized pores to filter all kinds of the larger particles than a pore, while gravity flow filter has relatively larger pore and screening function depe-nding on gravity or pressure. Because of such characteristics, this mechanism is most opti-mized for maintaining quality of filtered water regardless of quality of raw water. In addition to highly filtering efficiency, it requires relatively smaller space, and is automatically operable without personnel. Therefore, it is widely used in areas from water purification to ultra post-processing.
